AtomCubes (Shanghai) Quantum Technology Co., Ltd.was founded on April 30, 2026, and is registered in Xuhui District, Shanghai. As a deep-tech enterprise focused on the R&D and industrialization of neutral atom quantum computing technology, the company was established by a research team from the National Key Laboratory of Optical Quantum Technology and Devices at Shanxi University. With the core mission of "building large-scale quantum computing clusters," AtomCubes is dedicated to advancing quantum computing from laboratory research to industrial applications. As an important emerging force in Shanghai's quantum technology ecosystem, the company leverages Shanghai's industrial strengths as a "Five Centers" hub and the Yangtze River Delta's complete supply chain system, focusing on the cutting-edge neutral atom quantum computing roadmap to develop and commercialize quantum computing infrastructure.
The company is focused on the neutral atom quantum computing technology pathway, with the core objective of building scalable, highly stable large-scale quantum computing clusters. As one of the most promising quantum computing approaches for scaling, neutral atom quantum computing is widely regarded as a critical path toward universal fault-tolerant quantum computing, thanks to its identical qubits, long coherence times, and excellent scalability. The technical team originates from the National Key Laboratory of Optical Quantum Technology and Devices at Shanxi University—a national research platform that pioneered quantum optics research in China with over 40 years of accumulated expertise in quantum science and technology. Building on this strong foundation, AtomCubes focuses on key technological breakthroughs including large-scale neutral atom array manipulation, qubit coherence maintenance, quantum-classical hybrid computing architecture, and the engineering of quantum computing clusters. The company achieves precise trapping and independent control of high-density, high-uniformity atomic qubits, advancing quantum computing systems from laboratory prototypes to industrialized, deployable products. Mr. Luen Xingsheng, Founder, CEO & CTO
Mr. Luen holds a B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology, where he studied under Professor H. Jeff Kimble—Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and the "Father of the Quantum Internet." During his doctoral studies, his research focused on the system integration of neutral atom arrays and photonic chips, resulting in 13 publications in top international journals including Nature Photonics and Physical Review Letters. He subsequently served as a Project Manager at McKinsey & Company (a core member of the Greater China High-Tech practice, serving 30+ multinational enterprises including four of the world's top ten semiconductor companies) and as an AI Technology Strategy Expert at ByteDance. He combines deep scientific expertise with world-class industrial strategic vision.
Mr. Chen Yizhang, Co-Founder & COO
Mr. Chen holds a B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University and a Ph.D. and postdoctoral degree in Physics from New York University. He is recognized as a Shenzhen Overseas High-Level Talent. Previously, he served as CEO of Shenzhen Kuowei Atomic Technology, where he led the full commercialization of high-vacuum equipment—from prototype development to mass production of nano-nickel powder manufacturing equipment. Under his leadership, the company achieved 20x revenue growth in two years, reaching the tens of millions RMB level. Prior to that, as Head of Product at Fushi Technology, he led the team to achieve China's first AEC-Q102 automotive qualification for LiDAR chips. He has filed 45 patent applications with 14 granted, bringing extensive hands-on experience in mass production and delivery of hard-tech products.
Building on decades of technological heritage from the National Key Laboratory of Optical Quantum Technology and Devices at Shanxi University, AtomCubes inherits a strong intellectual property foundation. Since its founding, the company has been systematically building its patent portfolio around core neutral atom quantum computing technologies, covering atom trapping and optical tweezer array technology, quantum state manipulation and measurement, quantum computing system architecture, and quantum-classical hybrid computing scheduling algorithms. The company will continue to increase R&D investment to build a multi-layered IP protection system spanning underlying physical implementation, system integration, and algorithmic applications.
Since its establishment in April 2026, AtomCubes has quickly gained recognition from capital markets, thanks to its clear technology roadmap and outstanding team. The company has secured investment from leading domestic investors including Shanghai Future Industry Fund, Legend Star, and Sequoia Capital, establishing itself as a key player in Shanghai's quantum computing landscape.
Looking ahead, AtomCubes will remain rooted in Shanghai, aligned with national quantum technology strategic priorities, and continue to deepen its focus on neutral atom quantum computing. The company plans to advance the construction of large-scale quantum computing clusters in phases: in the short term, achieving engineering validation of quantum computing prototypes; in the medium term, building deployable ten-thousand-qubit quantum computing platforms; and in the long term, developing commercially viable million-qubit fault-tolerant quantum computing infrastructure to empower industries including finance, pharmaceuticals, materials, and artificial intelligence.
